Matching Image Sizes When Dragging Between Documents Tutorials

Image
People new to image editing in Photoshop are often puzzled when they drag an image from one document window to another document and the sizes don't match. You may have found that you have two documents which look about the same size when they are side by side, but when you drag one photo onto the first image appears really small (or really big). So what's the story? Well, you need to look at the resolution of each image to understand why this happens. In the example below you can see two images. The makeup image on the right has a resolution of 150-ppi, the silk image on the left has a resolution of 300-ppi document. The makeup image is displayed at 100%, while the silk image is displayed at 33%. When the makeup image is dragged on top of the silk image, the results appear as below. Suddenly the makeup image looks tiny. If you take a look at the magnification level shown on the title bar of each document window, you will get a big clue about how they will appear whe

Displace Filter & Displacement Maps Tutorial

Image
Making A Realistic Flag Liquid pixels - wrapping pixels over undulating silk The layer blend modes are an effective way of merging or blending a pattern or graphic with a three-dimensional form. By using the blend modes the flag in this project can be modified to respect the color and tonality of the undulating silk beneath it. The highlights and shadows that give the silk its shape can however be further utilized to wrap or bend the flag so that it obeys the material’s shape and sense of volume. This can be achieved by using the Displace filter in conjunction with a ‘displacement map’. The ‘map’ defines the contours to which the flag must conform. The final effect can be likened to ‘shrink-wrapping’ the flag to the 3-D form of the undulating silk. How it works : The brightness level of each pixel in the map directs the filter to shift the corresponding pixel of the selected layer in a horizontal or vertical plane. The principle on which this technique works is that of

Loosing your GSM/CDMA Signal ?? Maybe becasue of ...

Image
Personal Cell Phone Signal Blocker Device Although cell phones are probably the most useful communications devices ever developed (until now, that is), they do tend to get a little bit on a person's nerves, especially when they are outfitted with some very obnoxious ringtones. And that's exactly the reason why the people over at DealExtreme have come up with the Personal Cell Phone Signal Blocker Device back in August 2007, as this rather unusual product can block the cell phone signal on a 0.5 – 12 meter area around it. According to the vendors, the jammer uses super-high frequency and mini power interference technology in order to block the GSM signals by interrupting the downlink connections without affecting in any way the handhelds. It would seem that this device is quite effective, since it can block CDMA/GSM 869-960 Mhz networks, 2110-2170 Mhz 3G networks and 1805-1920 MHz DCS/PHS networks. The “circle of no-communication” created around the device has a

Nettop with Switchable Modular DVD-Drive from Onkyo

Image
An interesting innovation has pleased us with an Asian company Onkyo. Nettop manufacturer has released a new platform based P305A3 ION already familiar with the Atom 230 processor (pozhmotnichali long overdue move to a dual core 330) with a frequency of 1.6 gigahertz. What is so unusual for a novelty? P305A3. Of course, this you have not seen: a nettop comes bundled with an external DVD-drive, which is attached to the hull P305A3 as a module. You can always leave your home Nettop without an optical drive, taking him on a trip to the set on a thin laptop. Rather, such an interesting solution to attract many users. The device is equipped with two gigabytes of RAM and hard disk capacity of 160 gigabytes. Buy a novelty will be in March next year at a price of 770 dollars, to put it mildly - about twice as overrated.

NTFS vs. FAT

To NTFS or not to NTFS—that is the question. But unlike the deeper questions of life, this one isn't really all that hard to answer. For most users running Windows XP, NTFS is the obvious choice. It's more powerful and offers security advantages not found in the other file systems. But let's go over the differences among the files systems so we're all clear about the choice. There are essentially three different file systems available in Windows XP: FAT16, short for File Allocation Table, FAT32, and NTFS, short for NT File System. FAT16 The FAT16 file system was introduced way back with MS–DOS in 19
